COMMITTEES: Alternative Youth Activities Executive Committee Members |
RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS COMMITTEE The Religious Institutions Committee of the Healthy Youth Development Advisory Board is composed of individuals responsible for spiritual leadership within their diverse faith communities, and acknowledges that the adults and youth in Erie County don't know enough about the services and support that the hundreds of houses of worship in Erie County offer. The primary goal of this committee is two fold; 1) to address the need for opportunities for the spiritual development of children and youth in Erie County as a vital component of their overall healthy youth development, and 2) to encourage and coordinate the annual ecumenical celebration of a children's Sabbath. In order to accomplish this primary goal, the committee has focused on identifying the services and activities specifically provided for children and youth by area houses of worship and faith based entities, and is in the process of developing an appropriate, measurable and an achievable plan of action. Goal: To network, support, and empower houses of worship and faith institutions as leaders in the community in the development of the mind, body, and spirit of youth.
