COMMITTEES: Alternative Youth Activities Executive Committee Members |
MEDIA COMMITTEE The Media Committee of the Healthy Youth Development Advisory Board realizes that it is necessary to make sure that the public is informed in all areas that pertain to the healthy development of all youth of Erie County, to assure that the issues impacting youth are given due attention. We also want communication with and input from the Erie County youth themselves, as they know best what they need to be safe and healthy. To that end, County Executive Rick Schenker proclaimed the first annual Healthy Youth Development Week in October 2004, at a press conference arranged by the Media Committee. Our current project is the Positive Passions Youth Challenge. Goal: Increase the awareness of the general public and parents and families of the seriousness and range of issues facing Erie County youth through a media campaign, increase the critical thinking skills of Erie County Youth, to help them interpret media messages, and develop an increased level of media literacy, and give youth the opportunity to develop youth targeted messages to promote healthy living.
